Dr. Paul Gullifor

Dr. Paul Gullifor is in his 20th year at Bradley and has recently been named Chairperson for the Department of Communication

Tell us a little bit about your personal background—where did you grow-up, go to college, etc.

I grew up in South Bend, Indiana. I went to college at Indiana State University (B.S., M.A.) and the University of Missouri (Ph.D.)

How long have you been at Bradley University?

Since 1988 (just finished my 19th academic year).

What is your official title and what are you involved with on campus?

Professor and Chairperson, Department of Communication.

Why did you choose to work at Bradley?

I liked the people at Bradley, and the size of the campus and student body. I also liked Peoria. It reminds me very much of where I grew up and is close enough to visit relatives, most of whom live in Indiana.

What’s your favorite class or organization that you are involved with on campus?

My favorite class is whichever one I am teaching at the time. I like them all. I’m the faculty advisor to B.U.M. S. (the BU Media Society), the best organization on campus.

What has been the biggest change that you have seen on campus since you have been working here?

The biggest changes I have seen on campus have been the upgrades in technology and the introduction of new buildings and facilities.

What would you like to see changed or improved on campus?

I would like to see students show more interest in social causes and current events.

What advice, if any, have you ever given to graduating seniors?

Never take a job solely for money. Follow your passion and everything else, including the money, takes care of itself.

What interaction have you had with alumni while working at Bradley?

I have interacted with many alumni through receptions, alumni gatherings, homecoming and classroom visits.

What’s one thing you would like to pass on to alumni of Bradley?

Thank you for your support. Your continued support is vital to our mission in providing high quality education.
